“We’ve heard a lot about extremism recently. A nastier harsher atmosphere. Everywhere more abuse and bother boy behavior. Less friendliness and tolerance and respect for parents, alright! But what we never hear about extremism, is its advantages. Well, the biggest advantage of extremism is that it makes you feel good! Because it provides you with enemies. Let me explain. The great thing about having enemies is that you can pretend, but all the badness in the whole world is in your enemies and all the goodness in the whole world is in you! Attractive, isn’t it? So, if you have a lot of anger and resentment in you anyway, and you, therefore, enjoy abusing people. Then, you can pretend that you’re only doing it because these enemies of yours are such very bad persons. And that if it wasn’t for them, you’d actually be good-natured and courteous of rational all the time. I’m not the rather sad paranoid-schizoid that you really are.” – John Cleese (John Cleese vs. Extremism)

Grab your gavels, everyone, because it’s time for my exhaustive complete review of God’s Not Dead 2. Alright, guys well I’m not gonna spend too much time here on the opening because I want to get into the movie. And if you really want to know my thoughts about the previous movie, then you can check it out here.

This week one of you guys asked me, “Kevin, why are you reviewing God’s Not Dead 2? Isn’t it basically the same movie as the first film? Have they changed their philosophy because if they haven’t are you gonna be making the same arguments as you did in your previous review? Aren’t you just kind of repeating yourself? Isn’t it a bit redundant?” That’s a fair point, though, if I was afraid of repeating myself. Do you think I would have really painted myself into a corner reviewing this repetitive redundant cliched genre? Of course not!

But I think the legitimacy of the question that you asked is kind of the answer to the question. I know pretty deep. This is just warm-ups for the mental gymnastics that you’re gonna be experiencing as we go through this film. Point being. The question still remains: Is this movie just a rehash of the previous film? Or does it offer something more? I think there’s really only one way to find out the answer to that question and that’s to sift through it with a fine-tooth comb of criticism that only Say Goodnight Kevin can offer. So grab your popcorn, this is the same MovieNight Kevin review of God’s Not Dead 2.

You know it’s fitting that Universal is the distributor of this film since it’s a Comcast company. Comcast and Pureflix, two of my sworn enemies, working together. Though that does raise some concern, I mean, if Universal is a secular company. It is possible that they have had a negative influence on this Christian film. I mean, I just certainly hope this isn’t a dirty film. Oh good! It’s a Pureflix film.

I’m not gonna lie this intro music is getting me super pumped. I’ve been waiting for a very long time to review this movie. I don’t think anybody is as excited about this movie as I am especially for the same reason. Seriously, it’s starting to worry me is this like a form of Stockholm Syndrome. Psychologists out there watching my show. Is this a known condition? Help me.

Well, we get into this intro montage, which honestly, I’m glad that they’re getting the montage out of the way here at the beginning. Good for you, I know you have to put it in a Christian film. Throughout this, we’re introduced to some new faces along with some familiar ones. A little American flag action to get you started on confusing patriotism with Christianity. Throw in a firefighter there because remember 911. The closest we’ve come to becoming a Christian nation again since the founding fathers. Oh hello there, David AR White, I see.

Check out the rest out in the video review!
